Sibusiso is a Director of Photography, Film Editor, and storyteller rooted in Rustenburg, South Africa. With a BA in Film & Television Studies from the University of Johannesburg, he has dedicated his craft to exploring South African history, heritage, and the power of memory. His academic journey culminated in the creation of A Roving Bantu Trek: Brixton-Fietas Heritage Trail (2017), a thought-provoking documentary that examines memory and identity beyond racial divides. His professional journey includes roles as a Director of Photography on projects like A Relentless Man With A Dream, a tribute to North West farmer Ponki Makinita. In 2022, he filmed and edited Senatla: Rantompi Mokoka, part of an NFVF & DSAC initiative celebrating community unsung heroes. Most recently, he worked as a DOP and editor on a documentary about the displacement of the Baphalane people from Sesobe in the 1950s, shedding light on a forgotten chapter of history. Sibusiso’s work is a testament to his passion for storytelling, cultural preservation, and amplifying marginalized voices. He produced and directed his first short documentary, Beeing, which explores themes of environment and belonging. In 2024, he became a Nature, Environment, and Wildlife Filmmakers (NEWF) fellow, further deepening his commitment to impactful environmental storytelling.
